Curious about our selection process?

Kingdom Partnership Selection Process

The mission team at Rising Sun has been tasked with filtering through the MANY strategies, philosophies, and requests of ministries who seek an ongoing financial commitment. We call these relationships “Kingdom Partnerships”. The team uses the following process to recommend Kingdom Partnerships to the Elders who ultimately make the final determination after prayer and consideration.

Connection

Personal Recommendations from Rising Sun Members: Partnerships are first determined by the personal connections around the world that those at Rising Sun have. When someone brings a recommendation to the team, it usually begins with a personal relationship of some sort. We value these relationships as we determine our ministry partners.

Traditional Partnerships (those who we have supported in the past) are automatically and annually evaluated against a separate partnership document, financial accountability measures, and also the alignment tests below.

Alignments

Theological: Theological alignment is looking for “What” the potential partner is teaching. Rising Sun embraces her Restoration Heritage. While we share the “No Creed but Christ” attitude in application, we’ve found “Creedal” language helpful in our consideration of partnerships. We look at their Statements of Faith within the potential partnership’s organizational documents thoroughly.

Strategic: If the Theological asks what, then the Strategic alignment is asking the “How” questions. There are several “strategies” to advance the gospel. Strategic methods range from meeting physical or medical needs for individuals, to academic opportunities, to addressing more specific moral or ethical challenges, to perhaps a more traditionally oriented strategy like prayer walking, general Bible studies, house fellowship or street evangelism. Another aspect of strategic alignment is one of shared Mission and Vision as explained earlier in this document. We also consider other values and positions that are Biblically relevant in sharing ministry together.

Philosophical: This alignment evaluation is a little harder to analyze because it touches more of the “Who”, or identity questions of ministries. The evidence of the Spirit’s work should be revealed in the way the ministry carries themselves with character, integrity, cooperation, kindness, gentleness, humility, accountability, etc. To simplify, we are looking for partners who embody a Christ-like attitude and display evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. This fruit should be evident as they interact relationally with others.

Partnership

Ministry: The final test in considering a partnership is whether Rising Sun can serve physically alongside the ministry in some capacity. See 2 Samuel 24.24 for further understanding of this desire.

Recommendation

The mission team then makes a recommendation to the Elders.
