Vacation Bible School
In this year’s theme, Snowball Mountain Challenge, we will learn how to find our strength in God (Philippians 4:13). VBS is designed for kids 4 years old thru 5th grade - previous schoolyear.
Join us each evening from 6:10-8:30pm. You’re welcome to come early for supper from 5-6:00pm for just $15 per family or $5 per person each night.

Potluck... on a stick!

What makes you think of the Iowa State Fair? Games, husband calling, food on a stick?
We are celebrating the fair with a potluck on Sunday evening at the church. Join in the fun with our Food on a Stick Contest. Use your imagination! There will be a bean count vote for a winner. Bring other food to share and a lawn chair in case if the weather allows us to move outside for activities. Contact Gary Cox if you can donate a batch of homemade ice cream.
Picnic at the Park
We’ve reserved the shelter at Doane's Park in Pleasant Hill. The park has pickleball fields and a new playground by the shelter house. Come play and make a dish or two to share at our potluck, starting at 5:30pm.
Uncommon Men
Join thousands of men across the country to chart a different course. We fight to become...
Uncommon because ordinary isn’t working. We fight to become the men God created us to be, the husbands our wives deserve, and the fathers our kids desperately need.
Uncommon is a high-powered 24-hour event held on campus at Rising Sun Church. There will be tons of food, outdoor games, and competitions, with three jam-packed sessions designed to help men take the next big steps in pursuing God.
Dinner on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday morning are included. The campus is open for activities starting at noon on Friday, September 25th. You’re welcome to bring your own show car, RV, tent, tailgate, grill, lawn chairs, etc. and stay overnight (not mandatory) in becoming an Uncommon man of God.

Nationwide Youth Roundup
Come camp in the Colorado mountains!
NYR is a summer conference we send our families and youth each year to go tent camping, worship, dig into God’s Word, have outdoor recreation, and more. It was established in 1972 and it’s still changing lives today. The conference dates this year are July 19-23.

This trip has impacted many people in our church by introducing, developing, and growing personal relationships with Christ. Pray for more transformations, for safety on the trip, and for God’s Spirit to move in amazing ways throughout the trip!

Concert with Evan Egerer

Evan Egerer is a bilingual second-generation Latin American artist based out of Nashville, TN. Evan’s background in both Latin pop and CCM form his signature music style, featured in songs like “Renací” and “Muéveme.” His single “Renací” quickly earned him a featured spot on K-Love’s “Fresh Sounds” playlist. Taking the stage at festivals and fairs across the country, his performances have earned him national recognition, including the top spot at Creation Festival’s National Music Tournament. He has also shared the stage with artists such as Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Phil Wickham, Crowder, Point of Grace, and more. Carving out his signature Latin sound, Evan has most recently released his collaborative single “¡DALE! (Praise)” with the multi-award winning CCM Latin powerhouse, Jaci Velasquez. After an extensive 8-year hiatus, fans and the faithful community alike are celebrating the return of Jaci. Their song is now spinning at radio and has been added by programs across the nation like PulseFM and JOY FM, and featured by K-LOVE. In January 2026, he’ll be setting sail with Jaci Velasquez on the annual K-LOVE cruise.Bonus: Join us for 10:00AM Sunday morning service with Evan as our guest worship leader that same day!
Iowa Cubs - Play Ball!

We are organizing an outing at the ballpark! Everyone is welcome to join us at Principal Park on Sunday afternoon to watch the Iowa Cubs play the St. Paul Saints.
Special reduced ticket price is $9.00 per person (all ages) for reserved seating together as a group. Sign up at the information desk and pay at HomePointe by Sunday, June 28 so we can reserve the tickets.
This would be a great event to bring your kids and grandkids and enjoy some fellowship!

Movie Night!
Who needs a drive-thru when you have a cozy backyard and good company? Come hang out on Friday night by the West lawn. Come at 7:30pm, the movie "Playing with Fire" starts at 8:00pm. Popcorn will be provided, BYO drinks and snacks.
Garage Sale!
Shop to support INHiM Ministries the weekend of June 25-27 to help them raise funds for their convention! There’s sure to be good sale finds (not to mention delicious and authentic Mexican food) in our church gym.

"Bike Ride"
We are excited to invite you to join us for a relaxed and scenic motorcycle ride!
Meet up in our parking lot with kickstands up at 12:00PM.
Route: We’ll ride from the church to Albia, enjoy lunch in town, visit the Welcome Home Soldier Monument, and then ride back together. All bikes and skill levels are welcome. It’s a great chance to enjoy the open road, good company, and a meaningful stop at the monument.

Summer Party!
Let's go to the park together - it’ll be a smash!
Our Wednesday night Church Groups have come to an end… so we're cooking smash burgers and hotdogs, fishing & canoeing, and playing outdoor games to welcome the summer!
Meet us at the shelter at Copper Creek Lake in Pleasant Hill (just down the road from us!) and bring your fishing poles and lawn chairs and a side dish/dessert to share.
Esther-Ordinary Faith
Come watch our Kids Spring Musical!
Our children’s ministry is putting on a production to direct our attention to God’s faithfulness (in a cute and funny way, of course)! We will learn about confidence we can have in trusting God through the powerful testimony of Esther, while enjoying the witty dialogue and songs about faith.
Kids in in Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to practice with us in choir. We meet in the upstairs kids area on Sundays from 5:00-6:15pm. (Kids with parts will be meeting at 4:00pm.) Extra Rehearsals: 5/2 @ 3:00pm and day-of on 5/3 @ 3:00pm (performance at 6:00pm)
Mama Bear Apologetics
Join us for an encouraging and truth-filled Mama Bear Apologetics event featuring Hillary Morgan Ferrer, founder of Mama Bear Apologetics. Hillary will equip moms to think clearly, discern wisely, and confidently defend their faith and their families in today's culture climate - and teach their children to do the same. With biblical clarity and practical tools, this event will encourage you to defend the faith through proper apologetics. Cost is $10.00 per person. Join us for this women’s event. Light refreshments will be provided.
GIG Movie Night!
Growing in Grace (55+) is going to the movies... are you ready to go with us?
To wrap up our Jesus sermon series we will be showing the Sight & Sound Theater film JESUS! Join us in witnessing some of the most awe-inspiring, miraculous events in the gospels as this original production comes to life like never before! We’re putting up the big screen in the youth room / old sanctuary and providing popcorn and water. Feel free to bring your own favorite movie candy, snacks, and drinks.

Easter Sunday
Join us in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus!
Breakfast will be available from 9:00-9:45AM.
We’re accepting freewill donations during breakfast for the youth students serving to raise funds for them to attend summer church camp opportunities.
Worship service will begin at 10:00AM.
Take a family picture at our photo op in the foyer. And in our kids’ corner, we’ll have crafts and activities! No morning classes or kids worship (kids sit with their family during service). Nursery will be open, but not staffed.
Palm Sunday
We’ll have a few of our 5-7th graders lead worship for us during Sunday service - A lovely time of celebration of our Coming King as a family! Talk to Nancy Rogers to learn more.

Grub & Games
Stay after Sunday service on March 22 for another splendid GIG event. We'd like everyone to bring a dish (preferably with something in it) to share - bring your favorite recipe! After lunch, we'll sing a few hymns, and there will be a bags game (cornhole) tournament, and a cribbage tournament. If you don't know how to play either of these - it's a great time to learn! Other table games will be available, too. Don't miss out on the fun (That's Gary's middle name)!

In February, we kicked off the new “Growing in Grace” (55+) ministry with a soup lunch and games. Approximately 65 people attended and had a great time! A survey was taken to help with planning for future events and service possibilities.
