 Ministry Assistant (Part Time)

Rising Sun Church of Christ has an opening for a part time Ministry Assistant.  Rising Sun Church of Christ is dedicated to growing in God’s greatest commands and commission with a vision of building family legacies rooted in God’s word.  Our employees enjoy a casual work environment, opportunities for development and a real opportunity to make a difference.  The Ministry Assistant is responsible for administering the tasks and functions of the church office in concert with the ministerial staff and Elders.  


  • Must be a Christian and represent not only Rising Sun Church, but more importantly Jesus Christ and demonstrate a real love and concern for all people.  Committed to the church’s vision, leadership and people.
  • Must be an active member of a local church.
  • Must be pleasant, discreet, tactful, and capable of honoring confidential communications. Maintain a positive attitude, strong problem-solving abilities and excellent interpersonal skills are critical for anyone occupying this position.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Perform general office work; maintain supplies and various files; keep records and compile these into periodic or occasional reports. Accuracy and attention to detail is a must.
  • Welcomes visitors, addresses questions, and assists them with any problems.  Exercise tact, courtesy, confidentiality and diplomacy in all interactions.
  • Coordinates the church staff and event calendar.  Keeps volunteers, committees and staff advised of events and assist them with any needed preparation.
  • Edit and prepare weekly newsletter and PowerPoint slide, emails and other documents as requested; use appropriate software as required.
  • Maintains the church's memos, directory, website, social media or bulletin boards.
  • Responsible for organizing and sending church bills, reimbursement request and disbursement of church funds in cooperation with the church treasurer. Records individual record of contributions and send out statement.

Successful candidates will have:

  • At least a high school diploma, some college preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and written.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and the ability to work with graphics. Ability to think creatively, for purposes of designing documents, slides and other distributed materials.
  • Possess strong administrative/organizational skills and the ability to work independently without supervision, good at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects
