Elders

Gale Juhl

Gale has been married to Denise for over 30 years. They have four children. they reside on an acreage near Rising Sun. Denise is a Program Director for Freedom for Youth, a Christian mission located in Des Moines, that works with homeless and disadvantaged youth. Gale previously served as an Elder for RSCC for six years. Gale has also served as Pastor at Christ's Way Church in Osceola and Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Runnells. Gale is an attorney and currently is working on his Master's Degree in Theology from Lincoln Christian Seminary in Lincoln, Illinois. At Rising Sun, Gale, has served as Sunday School teacher, Teen Discipleship Group Sponsor and has facilitated classes for Equipping Time, small group Bible studies and Parenting Group. Denise and Gale are currently teaching 5th grade Sunday school, leading Discipleship Group for teens on Monday nights and participating in several small group Bible studies.

Art Henline

Art lives in Des Moines with his wife, Diann. Art has served in many capacities at Rising Sun and still remains active in teaching Christian Education. Art's grandmother kept him active in church and stresses the importance of a grandparent's involvement in the spiritual lives of their grandchildren. When not working at Dee Zee Manufacturing, Art enjoys tinkering with old cars. Art and Diann have one daughter, Jody Whistler, who lives in Mitchellville.

Ron Shivers

Ron Shivers has lived all of his life in the greater Des Moines area and currently resides in Altoona with his wife of 37 years, Bev. Ron & Bev have three grown children, Kelli [ Mark] Gallagher, Kerri [ Andy] Minor and Jeremy Shivers. Ron & Bev have five grandsons that are loved dearly. Ron has been employed at Dee Zee Mfg. 30 years. He is a graduate of Drake University with  a bachelor of science degree in business with an accounting major. Ron is a CPA. Ron was baptized at the age of 13 and has been involved with the church since. He has been a deacon, church treasurer, youth sponsor, teacher, and has served on numerous committees. Ron’s many interest include hunting, fishing, golf and attending athletic events at Iowa State and Drake. He also enjoys being involved with farming activities with his family. Ron’s family is very important to him and is involved in many activities with them.

Jerry Montgomery

Jerry has been married to his wife, Donna, since 1969. They have two grown sons, two daughter in-laws and 5 grandchildren. Jerry has been a member of Rising Sun since 1988. Jerry works for Allied/Nationwide Insurance Co. Aside from being an Elder, Jerry is on the Finance Commitee, head of the Audio/Visual ministry, bouncer for Kris Wolf and the teen choir, Sunday School Teacher, adult choir and a trustee. Jerry graduated from Ozark Christian College.

Steve Rullestad

Steve has been a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ since 1984. He and his wife Diane have been married since November 2002, and he is the father of two sons, and four step-children. They have five grandchildren. During that time he has been an Elder, drummer for the Worship team, adult choir, Bible study, small group, College/Career Sunday School Teacher. Steve likes to spend time with his wife and family, watch sports and participate in many types, taking trips and socializing with RSCC friends. Steve was raised from a young child in the church, but feels that it wasn't until he became an involved member of Rising sun that he developed a true personal faith and the value of service for the Lord.

Denny Stanton

Dennis and his wife Sherry live in Des Moines. They have been married since 1972, and have three children and three grandchildren. Dennis works for Premium Armored. Dennis likes to hang out with his wife, family and friends, play softball, attend Buccaneer Hockey games. Since becoming a member at Rising Sun, Dennis has been an Adult Sunday School teacher, in adult choir, RSCC's treasurer and a member of the finance committee. In addition to serving at RSCC, Dennis was the founder of Second Chance Ministries of Iowa and served as its director for three years helping men break addictive behaviors. Dennis' favorite scriptures are Jeremiah 29:11-14a and Psalm 139.

Brent Whitney

Brent and his wife, Terry, were married in 1981. They have two boys, Russel and Greg. Brent became a Christian and joined RSCC in 1994. His family lives in Bondurant and he works for The Weitz Company. Brent likes to spend his free time doing anything outdoors. Brent is involved with teaching our 101 Class, Alpha, VBS, Men's Ministry. Outside of church, Brent is also involved with prison ministry.

Cliff Wolf

Cliff was born and raised near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cliff and his wife, Kris, were married in 1975. They have three children, Noelle, Cullen, and Taylor and two in-law children. They have six grandchildren. As a child Cliff attended a Methodist church, but did not accept Christ until he was 20 years old. Cliff has been a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ since 1990. Cliff and Kris live in Mitchellville. Cliff works for European Motor Cars. Cliff likes to work on their acerage, collect coins and play with his grandchildren. Cliff is involved with the Worship team, adult choir and Faithful Men. His life, and the life of his family, has been blessed at Rising Sun and they feel very fortunate to belong to this church family.

Bob Young

Bob has been a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ since January 1991. As an elder, Bob is a member of the Missions Committee and has also worked with the Building Committee for the new sanctuary. Bob has been active at RSCC serving on TeleCare, singing in the Adult Choir and is a member of the Faithful Men Group. Bob leads one of the small group Bible Studies and also teaches Junior High Sunday School, with his wife, Kris. Bob has worked at Qwest for 30 years. Bob and Kris have two children, Brandon and Karey. Brandon is married to Lynn, and they have two children, Connor and Marisa. Karey is married to Kenton Kyer, who also have two children, Savannah, and Talon.
